Yasashii Do Martial Arts 優しい道

Ways of the Gentle Giants

Yasashii Do Martial Arts was founded in 1987

by Shihan Everett Rodriguez.

Yasashii Do is a Japanese style of self-defense, with a variety of techniques from the respected arts of Karate, Jujitsu, Aikido, T’ai Chi, and Kobujitsu.

The techniques of Yasashii Do vary from “hard” to “soft” style in combination and are supported with the strong Internal Energy of the Chinese style.

The words “Yasashii Do” translate to “Gentle Way.” (See Coat of Arms for detailed explanation.) You will find that many of the self-defense techniques of Yasashii Do are very aggressive and devastating, however the Yasashii Do student must always think of these techniques in a Gentle Way.

“If the fist goes forth, hold back the temper.

If the temper goes forth, hold back the fist.”

~Shihan Everett Rodriguez

Yasashii Do stylists are discouraged from passing judgment, good or bad on any other style, but to simply accept each other as another path of the Ways of the Gentle Giants. Be humble, keep an open mind, and absorb all you can about martial arts regardless of what style you are studying.
